You Don't Have to be a Rocket Scientist to Use NASA Technology
Garry Miller

Thousands of technologies have been fully or partially developed by NASA for space missions, which are of considerable value here on earth.  A significant technology transfer initiative has been created to transfer NASA's technologies to U.S. businesses.

Businesses have the opportunity to secure technology from this huge collection of intellectual property; ranging from chemicals, coatings, and advanced polymers; to an array of products for the medical and biomedical industries.  The breadth of technology is considerable, from sophisticated algorithms and imaging to advanced materials for protection from aggressive chemicals.

Through the acquisition of NASA technology, businesses can expedite the introduction of unique products or services, bypassing the arduous, risky, and extremely expensive discovery and basic research phases.

Thousands of inventions, patents, and technical disclosures have been developed by NASA to meet a particular mission and have not been transferred for commercial use.  A number of benefits can be realized through the acquisition of NASA intellectual property:

  • Reduction of basic research investment
  • Reduction in product development cycle time
  • Enhancement of manufacturing processes
  • Leverage expertise of a pool of experts
  • Access to advanced testing centers
  • Provide market differentiation for innovative products and services
