Jo Allen
|

|
As Senior Vice President and Provost at Widener University, Dr. Jo Allen joins us from North Carolina State University, where she served as the interim vice provost for Undergraduate Affairs. At NC State she oversaw the planning, budgeting, goal-setting, and assessment for special programming in ten units (honors, undergraduate research, the First Year College, to name a few). She is in the second year of a two-year term as president of the Association of Teachers of Technical Writing, the largest international scholarly organization for technical and professional communication scholars. She has published and presented books, articles, and papers in over 100 scholarly venues, focusing on communication, assessment, and higher education. She received her B.A. in English literature from Meredith College, her M.A. in English literature with an emphasis in technical and professional communication from East Carolina University, and her Ph.D. in English literature with an emphasis in technical and professional communication from Oklahoma State University. She also served as an American Council on Education (ACE) Fellow at the University of Virginia with President John T. Casteen.
