-- Was accepted into the Occupational Safety and Health Association's (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) as a Star Site, which recognizes it as one of the safest refineries in the nation
-- Total feedstock throughput capacity of approximately 195,000 barrels per day (BPD)
-- Products include gasoline, lube oil base stocks, mid-distillate products, asphalt, petroleum coke, liquefied propane gas, fuel oil and molten sulfur
-- Employs approximately 540 individuals

Overview
We acquired the Paulsboro refinery from Mobil in 1998, giving us valuable access to markets in the Northeast and expanding our national presence. A versatile facility with a built-in customer base in the area, the Paulsboro refinery receives a variety of feedstocks via its deepwater access on the Delaware River, including sour crudes such as Arab Light, Arab Heavy, Oriente and Kirkuk. Much of the plant feedstock is determined by Paulsboro’s lube blendstock production needs.

Output
In addition to a wide range of petroleum products, the refinery produces significant volumes of asphalt that are marketed to paving and roofing contractors. It also produces a variety of lube oil base stocks that are sold to the adjacent ExxonMobil finished lube blending and packaging plant as well as to other purchasers under the ValPar brand. Major units include:
-- 110,000-BPD lube crude unit
-- 58,000-BPD fuels crude unit
-- 71,000-BPD distillate hydrotreaters
-- 55,000-BPD fluid catalytic cracking complex
-- 27,000-BPD delayed coking unit
-- 12,000-BPD lube plant

Location/Access
Situated on 950 acres, the Paulsboro refinery is in southern New Jersey, just 15 miles south of Philadelphia. Its position on the Delaware River allows the refinery to take advantage of a number of transportation options. Products are moved out of the refinery via the docks, through an on-site truck rack and through various pipeline connections including a spur of the Colonial pipeline, which allows products to be sold into the New York Harbor market.
